Working with AI. Staying human.

For almost twenty years I have guided organisations through change – as co-founder and managing director of Identitätsstiftung. Now I am bringing this together with two worlds in which I am growing myself: intensive work with AI and movement-based bodywork. This is where my question comes from: how do we stay human and resilient as AI takes over more and more?

What I believe

Three theses I am working on. Not finished answers, rather good questions.

01

AI calls our humanity into question.

We experience ourselves partly through what we are able to do. When AI writes, analyses and prepares decisions, exactly that begins to waver. What gives us footing then is perception, movement and relationship: what makes us embodied beings and keeps us resilient.

02

The more intelligent AI becomes, the more consciously we need to develop our perception and our relationships.

Systems deliver results in seconds that take us far longer to understand and evaluate. We need to take that time.

03

Those who decide on AI are responsible for the people who work with it.

Leaders and decision-makers help shape what AI does to attention, rhythm and relationships. This cannot only be thought through. They need to experience it themselves.

What I do

For organisations and people who work intensively with AI: I combine introducing AI with the question of what it does to us.

Enabling

I run projects in which organisations understand AI, build it in and integrate it into their culture: from AI Experience Days and AI guidelines to pilot projects in everyday work. In a way that AI lightens the load instead of intensifying it.

Exploring

Along the way it becomes clear: AI calls our humanity into question. Perception, creativity and relationships are shifting. I explore this gap, the Embodiment Gap, in conversations, essays and my own practice.

Making it tangible

In keynotes, experiments and unusual formats I make this something you can feel, with methods from movement-based bodywork, theatre and game thinking. Less talking about it, more experiencing it.

About me

I grew up in a small village near Ratzeburg in northern Germany, in a family with Swedish roots. Perhaps that is where my eye for what happens between people and cultures comes from. In Hildesheim I studied writing and learned how games, spaces and rules set groups in motion. That question has stayed with me ever since.

Today I live in Bad Belzig, in the co-housing project LIF – Leben im Fläming, which is organised sociocratically. So I experience modern ways of organising not only with clients but in my own everyday life, friction included. I am the father of a daughter and I play the piano.
